Where Faith Meets the Journey

HazardAuthorHeadshot.PNG

Hi, I am Zachery Hazard! I am a father, teacher, and lifelong seeker of the quiet ways God forms us. I grew up in an Italian and Filipino Catholic family where prayer, tradition, and the steady love of my parents and grandmother shaped my earliest sense of faith.

Before becoming a teacher, I was involved in national radio broadcasting, where I learned the power of storytelling and the importance of listening to people’s hidden stories.

Today, I write from the intersection of faith, family, childhood formation, and the classroom. My debut memoir, Hazardous Travels, explores how God uses small, ordinary moments to form the human heart. I hope my work encourages readers to notice grace in the places they least expect it.

The Vision Behind Hazardous Travels: Reflections and Formation

Hazardous Travels is the first book planned in a formation guide series because it captures the heart of the project; helping readers learn to see their own lives through the lens of faith, reflection and purpose.

Shaped by lived experience and enriched through the contributions of a retired professor and a Deacon from the Diocese of Orange, this volume blends story, Scripture, reflection, and practical application. It is designed to be accessible and adaptable for parish groups, men's formation, book clubs, and individuals seeking a grounded path toward deeper faith.

At its core, Hazardous Travels invites readers to pause, reflect, and recognize the grace already present in their lives, while also serving as a practical resource for parishes, men's groups, and educators seeking meaningful faith formation.

About Author:

I am a Catholic educator, author, and speaker who believes God works quietly through the people and places that shape our lives. My writing grows from the intersection of classroom experience, global travel, parish life, and family tradition.

Having traveled to more than forty countries — including formative time in Torgorme Village, Ghana — I have seen firsthand how culture, community, and vocation shape the way faith is lived. Those experiences, along with my Filipino and Italian heritage, continue to inform my perspective.

At home and in parish life, faith is grounded in daily practice. I have served as an altar server and lector and remain active in Catholic men’s formation. These influences come together in my writing and speaking, especially in Hazardous Travels.

                         A Note on Writing

My writing grows from lived experience rather than abstract theory. I share only what serves formation, keeping the focus on faith, mission, and the people entrusted to my care. My hope is to help readers recognize how conscience and calling are formed in the ordinary rhythms of life.
